A self-leveling compound is a cementitious topping that is applied to an existing subfloor to create a smooth and level surface. It is commonly used to prepare the subfloor for the installation of tile, timber, vinyl, carpet and other types of flooring.
This helps create an even surface ready for laying new floor coverings without any potential issues arising from those imperfections previously present by eliminating high and low spots in the subfloor.
Short answer, yes!
Before installing vinyl it is important to properly prepare the subfloor. We have to inspect the tile surface as we would any subfloor. It should be structurally sound, clean and dry.
Then we use a self-levelling compound to level all joints between the tiles as well as the dips or humps present making it ready for vinyl.
If you're experiencing any rising damp, flood damage, escaped water or similar we can apply a rapid drying hydrostatic moisture and incontinence barrier. This will protect your new floor coverings from water damage.
Removing existing vinyl, ceramic tiles, carpet or timber efficiently requires the right equipment to speed up the process and minimise potential damage.
We're well equipped with heavy duty demolition equipment such as jack hammers, grinders, tile strippers etc to efficiently remove any unwanted floor coverings in a timely manner.
